The history of the Toronto waterfront
The Harbourfront neighborhood was developed at the beginning of the 19th century between Bathurst and Yonge streets and south from Front Street. At this time and for the next 150 years the area operated as a commercial port with the Queens Quay Terminal as the focal point of the neighborhood. In 1972 things changed when the Harbourfront Corporation was developed.
At this time the Queens Quay undertook renovations to change it from a warehouse into a massive building full of Toronto condos, shops, boutiques, restaurants and offices. Today the neighborhood also includes the CN Tower, the ACC and SkyDome. It's a mix of Toronto real estate, specialty shopping, recreational and cultural activities along with the serenity and peace that you can only find by living at the edge of the water.
